Here One Heron
| We've not noticed this before, but herons find Seattle a good place to raise their young. They are all over the place!

Twirly Whirly On The Waterfront
Amgen is a biotech company with a brand spanking new campus on Seattle’s waterfront just north of the grain elevator. Unfortunately, it’s sandwiched between Puget Sound on the west (no, that’s not the unfortunate part) and a bunch of railroad tracks on the east (yep, *that’s* the unfortunate part).
The city built an overpass for vehicular-type traffic and Amgen agreed to build a pedestrian overpass. A bare bones bridge would have cost them about one million dollars, but they decided (amazingly enough) to go for the gusto and build the nifty keen bridge you see here for not one, not two, but ten million dollars!
Seeing as how it was built by a biotech company, many people think the overpass looks like a strand of DNA. We just think it looks neat!
