We don't have any clue what this machine does, but the small wheels are several feet across!

We'll let these pictures speak for themselves. Actually, we can't. Ewwwww!

We Go To Fidalgo. (Bay, That Is. Pretty Scenery. Lots To See.)
Anacortes is a nice town whose main attraction seems to be the beautiful scenery all around.

Merrily We Trail Along
We hiked a middling-length trail from our lunch spot to the bridge. A trail's a trail's a trail, but as is usually the case with hikes the trail itself doesn't really matter since we spent the entire time gawking at the scenery.

Season Ticket? No, Just A Deceptive Pass
When Captain Vancouver first saw Deception Pass during his exploration of the Washington coastline back in the before-pioneer days, he thought it was a small bay formed by a peninsula off the mainland. When he came around the bend he discovered that the channel went on for a much greater distance than he had initially imagined and that that "peninsula" was in fact an island. Evidently a humble man, he named the location Deception Pass so that posterity would remember the mistake he made.
We just think it's a cool bridge and beautiful scenery!

Road Trip!
We took a weekend trip up the Washington Coast to the city of Anacortes on the northern tip of Fidalgo Island. The first day we drove down to Deception Pass, but before hiking to the the Pass we had lunch at a beach just around the corner. The sun was out, the surf was crashing in, and we had the place pretty much to ourselves. Talk about your undiscovered luncheon spots!
