Office Space
Michael's team moved to a new location while we were gone. He decided to take advantage of the situation and remodel his office, replacing the old dreary grey toned institutional color scheme with a new colorful one. Fabrics on the desks and cushions instead of chairs has made Michael's office the hip place to hang out!
Oh yeah...those marble cubes the animals are hanging around? Michael got those because some of his ideas were turned into patent applications! They've been submitted, but it will be years before we find out if they are accepted or not.

A Capitol Time
Even though the California Capitol is done in standard capitol style, it is still quite nice. But of course the highlight of the visit was seeing the Governator - well, his picture anyway. Perhaps even better, though, was touring the old governor's mansion. Originally built by a contractor who liked to show off, this house was sold to somebody else who sold it to the state which used it for a governor's mansion until Reagan decided it was tacky and started building a gigantic new house out in the middle of nowhere that no one else wanted to live in. Now California doesn't have an official mansion but rather each governor lives wherever they want to. Hmmm...sounds like normal California antics to us! <g/>
